SUSPENSION DESIGN - data entering

The other areas, however, relate to the geometry and the set-up of the front and rear suspensions.

Motorbike fork geometry and setting - Suspension Design by NT-Project
With regard to the front suspension, the data required for static calculation (motorcycle sag and rider sag) are the fork angle and fork set-up (stiffness and spring preload).

If, instead, you want to make the calculation of the motorbike balance in the different driving conditions, you also need to insert the fork damping and the weight of the front wheel.

To calculate of the trail must be entered the dimensions of the steer geometry, and of the fork.
Motorbike rear suspension geometry and setting - Suspension Design by NT-Project For the kinematic analysis of the rear suspension, simply insert the position of the key points and the dimensions shown in the figure according to the type.

For the calculation of the motorbike balance in static conditions (motorcycle sag and rider sag) in addition to the kinematic geometry, should be entered the shock setting (stiffness and spring preload).

Instead for the calculation of the motorbike balance in the differents driving phases, should be entered the shock damping and the weight of the wheel. Furthermore, since that the software calculates also the chain force, should be entered the numbers of teeth of front and rear sprocket, the pitch chain, and the position of the front sprocket.

The data is all easily detectable with simple measurements or are known based on the fork and shock features that are being used.
As regards the features of the fork and of the shock absorber, to define the behavior of the spring and damper as an alternative to using technical data, experimental data can be inserted.
