Steering Analysis
is a software developed to analyze and to compare the settings
on the kart steering system, to help technicians, tuners and
mechanics to find the best solutions to satisfy the driver
needs, and to optimize the kart performance both for the
adherence, both for the balance. In fact you can see easily how
change ackermann, toe, wheels lift, dynamic camber, and
therefore to make the correct choices to improve understeer,
oversteer, or the grip. |

|
Presentation
|
In the kart the settings on the steering system are frequents and
very importants. For this reason to know precisely where each
setting intervenes, and how much affects the different technical
aspects for the driver, and for the grip and the balance of the
kart, is fundmental to find fastly the best solution in the
different tracks or conditions.
|
How it works? |
|
The use of the software
Steering Analysis is very easy, in fact to have the first
informations is sufficient to enter the dimensions of the
steering system.
|
|
Results |
Thanks to these data you can immediately see, the steering ratio,
the steering of the outside and inside wheels, and their difference
(ackermann), in function of the steering wheel angle. The software
allows to compare until to three configurations, so you can easily
see how happen varying the settings that you want test. |
STEERING RATIO |
WHEELS ANGLE DIFFERENCE |
|
|
OUTSIDE
WHEEL ANGLE |
INSIDE
WHEEL ANGLE |
|
|
|
If in addition
to the steering system data, you enter also caster and
kingpin angles, you can have other fundmental informations
to understand how the different settings affect
driveability, balance, and grip while turning. |
|
|
OUTSIDE WHEEL SLIP ANGLE |
INSIDE WHEEL SLIP ANGLE |
|
|
WHEELS HEIGHT DIFFERENCE |
OUTSIDE
WHEEL CAMBER |
|
|
|
How you can see from the graphs, thanks to the calculation performed
from the software Steering Analysis, will be easy
to see which setup allows to give more grip (slip angle) at the
outside wheel, and which at the inside wheel, which allows to obtain
more or less work from the chassis for the different lift of the
wheel, and which will give more or less camber at the wheels on
turning. |
The software in
addition to compare the different steering system geometry,
allows also to compare what happen with the different caster
settings. |
|
|
|
Selecting a track from the internal database of the
software, or calculating a new track line exploiting the
data of your acquisition system, with the software Steering
Analysis is possible to analyze the different steering
system settings, and caster settings, in function of the
real turning angle used on the track taken in consideration. |
|
WHEELS HEIGHT DIFFERENCE |
OUTSIDE WHEEL CAMBER |
|
|
|
|
Selecting or entering the kart and tire data, through the data acquired
from your acquisition system, the software Steering Analysis
can perform also the dynamic calculation of the front axle
movement, and of the kart to follow the track line. This
allows to analyze how the different steering system and
caster settings affect the kart grip, and the driveability
so you can find easily the solution most
adapted to improve the performance or the driver feeling. |
|
KART GRIP SLIP ANGLE |
|
KART BALANCE SLIP ANGLE |
|
How you can see from the graphs, thanks to the calculation performed
from the software Steering Analysis, is possible to see in each
point of the track the conditions of understeer or oversteer that
you have with the different steering system and caster settings,
both for grip problems, both for balance problems, and therefore to
make the best choice in function of your needs. |
The software Steering Analysis is then an instrument very useful,
both to evaluate in advance the effects of the
different steering system settings, and therefore to act with
certainty in the desired direction , both to find
on track the best solution to resolve the driving and
performance problems, that you could have in function of the track
features, and of the different conditions.
