ENGINE ANALYSIS
know the real power that the kart engine produces is very
important, both in the development phase, both for the fine tuning.
With the software Engine Analysis you can use your
acquisition system to have with precision the power and torque curve of your engine as if you were at the dynotest, with the great
advantage to be able to analyze the performance that actually
is providing the engine on the track, fundmental to find the optimal fine tuning for the engine
and to check the real progress of your development. |
|
|
|
How it works?
|
From the data acquired by now from all the acquisitions is possible
to estimate the power of the engine, in fact already in many
software of the acquisitions this calculation is present,
unfortunately however this calculation is simplified and is not very
precise in order to have clear technical indications on the
performances of the engine. Our software Engine Analysis, on the
other hand, reworks the data taking into account of all the factors
that influence the calculation of the power curve, thus allowing
very precise results of the torque and power curves, which can be
used to understand the real effects on the kart engine of the
development, and of the fine tuning.
Engine Analysis in fact firstly performs a specific filtering of the
acquired data to eliminate the inevitable inaccuracies that occur
during acquisition, and which significantly alter the power
calculation, moreover considers in the calculation:
|
|
|
|
- |
total weight |
- |
effective aerodynamic drag |
|
- |
engine inertia (crankshaft, flywheel, clutch, ignition) |
- |
gearbox inertia (if present) |
|
- |
rear wheels inertia (rim and tire) and of rear axle |
- |
effective rolling resistance |
|
- |
weather conditions (pressure, temperature and humidity) |
- |
effective track conditions (level of grip) |
|
All this allows to obtain a high level of precision and to know the
behavior of the engine as if you were at dynotest, with the great
advantage, however, to see how the engine actually behaved in the
track conditions, where in fact is important to obtain the maximum
performance!
The use of the software is very simple, in fact having been studied
specifically for the world of art, all the above mentioned
magnitudes have been carefully studied and included in the software
to allow an immediate calculation simply by importing the data
acquired from your acquisition.
In fact there are already the data for the karts of all the
main categories, both CIK-FIA (KZ, Mini, Baby, OK, OKJ),
both single brand (Iame X30, Vortex Rok, Rotax Max, Easy
Kart. The data of all the approved engines, and the data of
all the homologated tires, both for aluminum rims and
magnesium rims. |

|
|
At
this point you must simply go on track, to do your session,
and at the end import the data acquired from your
acquisition system in the software Engine Analysis. The
software immediately recognizes your acquisition (AIM,
UNIPRO, ALFANO, 2D, RKS, STARLANE, COSWORTH, GET) and shows
you the lap times you have made, so you can eliminate from
the calculation the laps with too many driving errors, and
select only the lap that you want to analyze specifically.
In addition, the software shows you the channels that has
recognized, giving you the ability to easily select the
channels with different names from the standard ones.
By starting the calculation in a few seconds, you will have precisely
the torque and power curves of your kart engine, just as if
you were at dynotest. Moreover if on your acquisition you've
also the sensors for the temperatures of water, exhaust gas, and under spark plug,
and the lambda, the software also processes these
data, to give you the curves in function of the engine speed, very useful for
understand the real trend and level of these quantities. |

Results |
|
As you can see thanks to the software Engine Analysis from
your track session you've achieved the real performance of
torque and power of the kart engine, in this way you will understand
easily if the technical or set-up solutions that you're trying
given an improvement, in fact comparing the results of two different
sessions, you will see the engine performance independently from the
lap time, in fact the software Engine Analysis taking into account of the weather and grip conditions of the
track, is able to compare the curves even if the situations
atmospheric and track conditions are differents, avoiding
to be fooled by the lap time that can be influenced by
these factors.
The comparison of the two sessions clearly shows you how the
interventions that you have made have modified the performances of the
engine, and this is fundamental in the choices of development and set-up
to follow to get the best results.
In addition to the overall calculation of the session, the software also analyzes
the single lap to show you the power, the torque, the temperatures of water, exhaust gas, and under spark plug,
and the lambda, in the various
points of the track.
Finally, the software calculates the throttle opening in the various
points of the track, and this can be useful for analyzing the
driving, and in the engines with gearbox, calculates the shift gears used during
the lap, which can provide important indications for the choice of
the final drive ratio.
|
As you have seen
combine the software Engine Analysis with your data acquisition
will allow you to enhance your instrument, and to
use it also as a dynotest for your kart engine,
obtaining fundamental indications for the development and the fine tuning. |
The software works with all
the main acquisition systems, and usually the sensors
normally present are sufficient, however if before
of the purchase you want us to verify your files you can fill in the appropriate form
